# SF 2047 Reference Brief

Packet: `sf2047_reference_packet_v01`
Status: authoritative for the next entity-evaluation and Blender modeling cycle
Primary hero: `00_hero/hero_primary.jpg`

## 1. Primary objective

Balance both objectives:

1. Match the hero image closely enough that composition, skyline hierarchy, bridge
   placement, water mass and storm mood are recognizably the same.
2. Build a coherent, explorable San Francisco 2047 world that remains credible
   from diagnostic and coverage cameras.

When the goals conflict:

- The hero image wins for the locked hero camera.
- Geographic, navigation, clearance and evidence gates win for hidden or
  explorable structure.
- A local visual-score gain may not justify breaking a hard entity gate.

Final authority is hybrid:

- deterministic technical gates for geometry, provenance, navigation, waterline,
  changed-object scope and export health;
- entity-level multimodal evaluation for visible similarity;
- human visual approval for final promotion.

| Hero region | Authoritative reference | Tie-break rule |
|---|---|---|
| Bridge | `01_bridge/bridge_wide_silhouette_01.jpg` | Bay Bridge identity and open-water approach beat decorative detail. |
| Central skyline | `02_skyline/central_hierarchy_01.jpg` | Landmark hierarchy beats literal replication of speculative towers. |
| East skyline | `02_skyline/east_density_02.jpg` | Continuous depth and occlusion beat individual facade styling. |
| Water/canals | `03_waterfront/canal_grid_plan_01.jpg` | Connected navigable waterways beat compositional water strips. |
| Foreground | `04_architecture/mixed_height_fabric_04.jpg` | Close-layer density beats clean open plazas. |
| Sky/atmosphere | `05_atmosphere/horizon_break_02.jpg` | Silhouette separation beats heavier volumetric fog. |

## 2. Camera

- The hero camera is locked after the next approved structural pass.
- Camera edits before that lock must be isolated, scored and reversible.
- The world must also support aerial, canal-level, reverse-waterfront,
  plan-validation and cutaway views.
- Hero delivery: 16:9 at 3840 x 2160.
- Diagnostic renders: 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720.
- Scores from different resolutions are not directly comparable unless normalized.

## 3. Landmark requirements

Must remain recognizable:

- San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge;
- Transamerica Pyramid;
- the bright central 2047 hero tower;
- Portsmouth Square as the higher-ground scene center;
- the Embarcadero/bay relationship;
- the Financial District street grid transformed into canals.

The left bridge is specifically the Bay Bridge.

Focal hierarchy:

1. bright central hero tower;
2. Transamerica Pyramid;
3. supporting Financial District skyline.

Fixed:

- landmark identity;
- broad geographic relationships;
- Bay Bridge side of frame;
- Portsmouth Square-to-water elevation relationship;
- protected open-water wedge.

Flexible within entity tolerances:

- speculative tower heights;
- non-landmark facade designs;
- roof furniture;
- individual boat locations;
- future internal bridges and promenade details.

## 4. Futurism level

Target: **speculative near future**.

Include:

- literal navigable street-canals produced by approximately 30 feet of bay rise;
- water taxis, ferries, floating docks and working waterfront infrastructure;
- elevated promenades and flood-adapted podiums;
- selective new vertical architecture integrated with the existing skyline.

Avoid:

- generic neon cyberpunk clutter;
- floating buildings without structural logic;
- a completely replaced skyline;
- decorative disconnected canals;
- excessive holograms or science-fiction vehicles.

## 5. Waterfront logic

The canals are literal, navigable waterways.

Requirements:

- canal axes broadly inherit the street grid;
- water routes connect to the bay;
- Chinatown and Portsmouth Square remain higher than the flooded Financial District;
- Embarcadero and Bay Bridge relationships remain legible;
- bridges preserve credible boat clearance;
- docks have pedestrian access.

Activity level: medium-high.

Use fewer, larger, readable ferries and water taxis at varied headings. Wakes and
docks should communicate a working transport system. Preserve the open-water
wedge instead of filling every surface with boats.

## 6. Look and atmosphere

- Photoreal cinematic architectural visualization.
- Blue hour during or immediately after a storm break.
- Dark blue-gray city and water.
- Selective warm occupied windows against cool exterior light.
- Broad layered clouds and a localized bright horizon.
- Wetness, reflections and wakes are required.
- Fog is moderate and depth-selective.
- Rain itself is optional; the world should read as recently wet.
- Avoid uniform haze and uniformly emissive facades.

## 7. Priority trade-offs

Ranking:

1. Urban density and depth.
2. Hero composition and silhouettes.
3. Facade, window and roofline realism.
4. Bridge identity and detail.
5. Water, weather and cinematic lighting.

Observable done criteria:

1. The east skyline reads as at least three depth bands with continuous mid-rise
   fabric and no large accidental voids.
2. The foreground overlaps the lower frame with roofs, trees, docks and short
   canals while preserving the open-water wedge.
3. The Bay Bridge remains recognizable, stays inside approved frame bounds and
   preserves deck/boat clearance.
4. Transamerica and the bright hero tower remain separately readable.
5. Every visible boat has a route, wake, dock or plausible harbor operation.

Tolerated:

- a small color-similarity decrease for measurable structural gain;
- moderately longer render time for instanced structural detail;
- minor boat and speculative-building repositioning;
- slightly less haze to improve entity visibility.

Not tolerated:

- evidence integrity below 1.0;
- an unapproved hero-camera change;
- disconnected canals;
- bridge clearance failure;
- landmark identity loss;
- undeclared changes to protected evidence collections.

## 8. Production constraints

- Target: Blender 4.x with scripted rebuildability.
- Primary renderer: Cycles.
- Preview renderer: Eevee when materially representative.
- Target maximum for one 4K hero frame: 20 minutes on the designated workstation.
- External textures are allowed with recorded licenses and local caching.
- DataSF, USGS, public GIS and OSM-derived data are allowed with provenance.
- Photogrammetry is allowed only with clear rights and geographic provenance.
- Paid assets require explicit licenses and must remain replaceable.
- Do not use proprietary captured city meshes.
- Preferred exchange: `.blend`, USD and GLB.
- Scripts, manifests and evaluator records must remain portable.
- Soft master-package target: 5 GB before render caches.
- Delivery filename: `sf2047_reference_packet_v01.zip`.

## Evaluator authority

These images are creative and technical guidance. They are not evidence for
underground archaeology, foundations or geology.

Required loop:

`select entity -> render diagnostic views -> diagnose cause -> propose one bounded
edit -> validate changed data-block scope -> re-evaluate dependencies -> run scene
sentinels -> accept or revert`

The annotated regions route attention. They do not replace the entity registry.
